Some coaches tend to baffle their prospective and actual clients with jargon. CoachExec aims to make coaching an enjoyable experience with obvious benefits. If you have any questions that aren’t answered here please contact us.
What exactly is coaching?
Coaching is a probing and revealing conversation that you have with someone qualified and experienced in this field. It is the same conversation you probably have over and over in your head but in this case, your coach will challenge your traditional way of thinking, help you to find alternative solutions to problems, and ensure that you take positive action in order to move forward.
Is coaching the same as counselling?
Unlike counselling, because the focus is on the way forward, coaching does not dwell on issues or problems from your past. Of course, sometimes we have to help you to resolve an issue from your past that is getting in the way of you moving forward but coaches are not qualified to deal with deep-seated emotional, behavioural or mental issues. A good coach will always refer a client needing help in this way to a qualified counsellor or psychologist.
What is the difference between an executive coach/career coach/life coach and a football coach?
Your executive coach or career coach or life coach will have specific insight to the challenges you face in your work-place or particular industry without having actually worked in your job-type. A football coach on the other hand, would be expected to have played football to a high professional level himself if he is to be accepted by a leading team. Sports coaches also focus mainly on the physical aspects of a sport. Interestingly, there is an increasing number of sportsmen and women who are employing external life coaches to deal with team and individual motivation, emotional and mental strength, all necessary attributes in order to win.
How many sessions do I need and can I choose how and when these sessions take place?
After your free assessment, we will agree together on the length and nature of your coaching programme. Except for what we call laser power-sessions designed for clients who have to make an important decision or are facing a challenging presentation, we expect all or our clients to sign up for a minimum of six sessions. Following your six sessions, you can opt to buy another batch of six, or settle for individual sessions. During your assessment, we will also decide if it is feasible to meet face-to-face, run our sessions through telephone calls, or via skype. Sessions are 45 minutes long and on occasions when there is a clear need, we will allow a session to run up to one hour. Whichever method of coaching you choose, you will also get unlimited email support and one laser coaching call if and when necessary. You will also be set homework assignments, designed to put your goals and aspirations into action.
What if it just isn’t working for me? Will I be locked into the contract?
In all our years of coaching, we haven’t had an incident where coaching hasn’t worked except where a client is not coachable. Your ability to be coached will be clearly established at your assessment. It is therefore unlikely that you’ll find that coaching doesn’t work for you. However, if you do not engage fully in the sessions and in the homework assignments, then the coaching will not work. For whatever reason that the coaching stops working, you will be released after the third session and the remaining three sessions of your contract will be refunded. After all, coaching is meant to be a mutually enjoyable activity and must produce positive results.
What would a general coaching session involve?
Your coaching sessions will take the form of a probing conversation. A general approach would start with us honing in on your short and long term goals setting a time-frame and action plan to ensure that you actually achieve these goals. We will then look at the reality of your current situation, focusing on all the positive aspects and challenging the negative aspects. Next, we will focus on solutions rather than more problems and work creatively in finding new and better options. Finally, we will look at the steps you need to take to achieve your goals and aspirations. As with the goals, we stipulate when and how you are going to move forward.
Is coaching very expensive?
Not at all! Coaching is based on achieving positive results so you can easily measure whether or not you’re getting your money’s worth. CoachExec’s prices are extremely competitive so don’t hesitate to contact us for a quote. It is cheaper to buy a batch of six sessions rather than one at a time. There are no hidden charges and fees are payable upon receipt of an invoice which will be presented to you when you sign your coaching contract. If you cannot see any added value by your third session, then you will be released from the terms of your contract and refunded the remaining three sessions. This puts you in a win-win situation.
Can I afford coaching and will it be worth the money?
The question you should ask yourself is can you afford to do nothing about your issues? What is it costing you in time, stress and unhappiness by not seeking solutions through coaching? These are questions that you are more-than-likely going to be able to answer during your free assessment. You would know, by the end of the first assessment, whether you can afford coaching or not.
Coaching must always add value and must, therefore, be evidence-based. At the end of your coaching programme, we will work out your Return On Investment so that you will see and feel the added value that coaching has brought to your life.
