Glossary of Terms

Coachable

In order for coaching to work, as a client you need to be coachable. Coachable clients will be open to probing and challenging questioning, able to engage fully in the coaching programme which includes coaching homework assignments, and be determined to seek positive change. Clients who will not benefit from coaching will be those needing psychological or counselling intervention due to deep-seated emotional, mental or behavioural problems.

Career Coaching

Career coaching takes you through the whole process of recruitment, from your CV through to your final interview, and also looks at your career management and career progress charts, ensuring that you achieve maximum results and total job satisfaction.

Laser coaching

Laser coaching is a powerful one-off session in which we deal with a particular issue that requires immediate attention. It could take the form of a 10-minute session to boost your confidence before an important meeting or presentation, or it could be a longer session taking you through a Force Field Analysis in order to help you make a life-changing decision.

Coaching Homework Assignments

At the heart of coaching is action, leading to positive change. When you are working with your coach face-to-face or on the telephone, you will find that you are highly motivated. However, to keep that motivation going while you are on your own and to ensure that you take positive steps forward, your coach will set you coaching homework assignments that will motivate you to take action on issues that are essential to your progress. In addition, your preferred learning style is always considered in the setting of these assignments. Fully engaging in these coaching homework assignments will guarantee your success.

Preferred Learning Style

We all have our own special way of learning effectively. There are various learning style models but we would focus on audio, visual, reading/writing, or kinaesthetic learning styles. Your preferred learning style will be identified at your initial coaching assessment. This will help you and your coach to work more effectively as you will be starting from a common ground.

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP)

Put simply, NLP is a way of exchanging negative for positive behavioural and thinking patterns by modelling and experiencing excellence and success. Two strong methods used in NLP include reframing, a method in which you re-create a negative experience by replacing it with a more positive image or outcome, and anchoring where you find a physical stimulus that will stop you from being sucked into a negative thought or feeling pattern.  NLP is a powerful add-on to your general coaching programme.

Return on Investment (ROI)

At the end of your coaching programme, it is important that you clearly understand the return you will have made on your investment. A mixture of qualitative and quantitative data is collected in order to calculate Return on Coaching Investment:

ROI = ((Benefits – Costs) /Cost) × 100

Force Field Analysis

Force Field Analysis is a powerful tool designed to help you make important decisions. Going further than working out pros and cons, the FFA helps you to clarify the forces pulling you towards and pushing you away from a particular decision. Because you attach emotional and financial values to each force, you are able to qualify and quantify the right choice more effectively.

Coaching credits and Coaching Gift Tokens

Coaching credits can be earned by recommending someone for coaching, providing that the person you recommend signs up for six coaching sessions after their free assessment. Your coaching credit will allow you to have one coaching session with CoachExec at no cost. You can also offer coaching gift tokens to your friends and family for birthdays and other special occasions. The gift tokens could be for one power coaching session.
